2025 Flooring Trends
As we reach the midpoint of 2025, it’s clear flooring trends are embracing a more grounded, organic aesthetic that brings warmth and character into modern spaces. This year, natural warmer tones are taking centre stage, offering a cosy, inviting feel that complements a wide range of interior styles. Likewise, raw, unfinished-looking boards are gaining popularity, avoiding the “orange” tone, and textured surfaces are popular for their ability to add depth and authenticity. Meanwhile, classic patterns like herringbone are making a strong comeback, reimagined with new finishes and reliable engineered wood structures to modernise a timeless design.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at each of these key flooring trends shaping 2025. We’ll explore what’s driving these styles and how you can incorporate them into your own space.

Embracing Natural and Raw Aesthetics
1. Out with the Grey, in with the Grain
We’re seeing a decisive shift in homeowners moving away from cooler greys, towards warmer organic wood tones. This trend emphasises authenticity and subtle warmth, creating spaces that feel organic, timeless and intentionally understated.
Lighter wood tones are being chosen for their ability to:
- Elevate natural light. making rooms feel airy and more spacious, whilst still feeling cosy
- Pair effortlessly with both modern and and traditional décor
- Age gracefully
There are two wood flooring finishes which suit this style; natural oak tones and raw / invisible looking finishes….
Soft, Clear-Oiled Elegance
Natural Oak Tones
The Natural “light golden” oak tones have always been popular, and 2025 has been no different. They have an ability to bring subtle warmth and a grounded, organic feel to a space. This colour is usually achieved simply by a clear, matt (non-shiny), finish which warms the timber and enhances the natural grain of the wood.
This style can be achieved with a pre-oiled board, such as the Supreme 190mm x 21mm engineered oak (as pictured), or by choosing an untreated board and finishing on site using a clear matt oil – see Treatex Clear Flat Matt Hardwax oil, as an example.

The Beauty of Raw, Untouched Timber
Raw / Invisible Finishes
Many look to maintain the raw / unfinished look of the oak, which has a paler understated appearance and very much of an organic feel. These finishes are popular as they keep the floor feeling natural yet paler, and without being “washed out”.
This style can be achieved by choosing a floor that’s had an “invisible” finish applied, such as the ‘Serenity’ 190mm x 20mm Invisible Matt Lacquered, or by choosing an untreated board and finishing with a product such as Soft White Treatex Hardwax Oil.

Less Bland, More Character
2. Textured surfaces and Featureful Wood
Smooth, uniform flooring is starting to feel… well, a little too safe. In 2025, there’s a growing appetite for floors with visible character and surfaces that celebrate the natural quirks of the material rather than hiding them.
A “Brushed” finish is where wire brushed remove the softer grain from the wood, leaving a textured surface and highlighting the grain of the timber. It’s a refined way to add interest without overpowering a space, offering a floor that looks thoughtful and feels alive underfoot. Although popular, textured floors do come with some long term maintenance considerations, and we’d always suggest speaking to us first to check that a textured wood floor suits your long term requirements and preferences.
Alongside texture, many are embracing rustic or character grade boards, which feature knots, grain variation, splits and sapwood. These elements, perhaps once considered imperfections, are now viewed as desirable details that bring warmth, personality, and a sense of story to the floor.
Together, textured finishes and rustic grading create floors that feel real, grounded, and distinctly individual. Our ‘Lundy’ 190mm x 20mm oak, is a popular choice.

Classic style, modern floorboard
3. Herringbone Patterns
Parquet flooring is enjoying a well deserved resurgence over the past few years, with herringbone leading the way as a favourite among homeowners and designers alike. Once associated with grand period homes, this timeless pattern has been reimagined for modern day living.
Our range of herringbone floors are available in a variety of finishes, designed to complement a wide spectrum of interior styles while also meeting practical requirements. Unlike traditional solid oak blocks of the past, today’s high quality engineered herringbone boards are built on a multi-laminate plywood core which provide far higher levels of stability and reliability. This makes them far better suited for modern environments – including those with underfloor heating.
Engineered herringbone flooring stays true to the charm and elegance of classic parquet, but thanks to its advanced construction and modern finishing options, it brings this heritage-inspired style in line with the demands of today’s home.

As with any interior design element, flooring trends are constantly evolving, but the key to great flooring is finding a balance between style, practicality, and longevity. Whether you’re drawn to the warmth of natural wood tones, the boldness of statement patterns, or the texture and character of a more rustic board, there’s never been a better time to rethink what’s underfoot.
