Teak Treatex Colour Tone, as the name suggests, produces a slight pink tone to the timber closer resembling the colour of the Teak species.

Treatex Colour Tones stain the timber whilst still allowing the natural character and beauty of the timber to be present.  These oils are manufactured on a base of natural and sustainable raw materials and then completed with natural pigments used to colour treatment.

Treatex Colour Tones, once dry, must be sealed using 2 coats of Treatex Hardwax Oil

  • Although it’s not common, all Treatex Colour Tones can be mixed to create your own unique finish.
  • Low Odour.
  • Meets with VOC emissions regulations.
  • Easy to apply.
  • Quick drying.
  • Still allows the beauty of the timber to be apparent.

Internal use only.

Suitable to be used on most timbers.

Can be used most internal timber including floors, stairs, worktops, window sills, skirting, architrave, furniture, tables, instruments etc.

2.5 Ltrs will cover approximately 50m² in one coat depending on the timber and method of application.

2 coats of Treatex Colour Tone is usually unnecessary and will only slightly deepen the colour.

Preparation

Our engineered oak floors usually do not require sanding before finishing. If you’re applying Treatex Colour Tone to an existing floor then the floor should be sanded back using 80-120 grit. All of the existing finish should be removed and the Colour Tone applied to the bare timber.

Ensure that all dust, dirt and any other contaminates are removed before application begins.

You should ensure you buy enough Colour Tone to complete your entire project and when more than one tin is required it is recommended that the tins are mixed together before use.

Ensure the product is at room temperature and stir well before application begins.

It is standard practice to test before proceeding to finish your floor. We recommend you treat an offcut first to be sure in your choice of colour.

Application

Apply 1 coat of Treatex Colour Tone using a brush or roller. To ensure an even finish and correct drying, remove the excess oil with a lint free cloth. Failure to remove the excess oil will result in extended drying times and run the risk of an uneven / patchy finish). Allow the Colour Tone to dry which usually takes 3-6 providing warmth and ventilation is present.

Once dry seal the timber with 2 of Clear Hardwax Oil in your desired sheen level.
