The Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil is designed specifically for light coloured timbers. This product can be applied as a base coat, before applying 2 coats of Clear Treatex Hardwax Oil to prevent the timber from warming, preserve the paler colour and create a finish closer to the appearance of an untreated board.

Treatex Hardwax Oil Natural is user friendly and easy to apply (more info within application tab) suitable for most interior timber including floors, kitchen worktops, stairs, window sills and furniture.

Treatex Hardwax Oil Ultra formula is made up of sustainable raw materials that include Bees wax, Carnauba wax, Candilla wax, Linseed oil, Sunflower oil and Jojoba oil and contains no biocides or preservatives.

Reduces the warming of lighter timber when Clear Hardwax Oil is applied.

Tinted with natural white pigments.

Usually no sanding is required between coats.

Meets with VOC emissions regulations.

Easy to apply.

Low odour.

Quick drying.

Still allows the beauty of the timber to be present.

Internal use only.

Can be used on lighter coloured untreated internal timbers.

Because Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil contains a small amount of white pigment it can be used in 2 different ways:

Method 1: as a base coat on lighter timbers – If you’re looking to prevent the timber from warming, preserving the paler colour and create a finish closer to the appearance of an untreated board then 1 coat of Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil can be applied before applying 2 coats of Clear Treatex Hardwax Oil.

Method 2: as a top coat over Spruce Treatex Colour Tone – For a purer white finish, 2 coats of the Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil can be applied over Spruce Treatex Colour Tone.

Please Note: Hardwax Oil Ultra Natural is not intended to be used in the same method as Clear Hardwax Oil and should either be overcoated with 2 coats of Clear Hardwax Oil or should be applied as 2 coats over Spruce Colour Tone as outlined above. Applying more than one coat of Natural on its own will usually result in a milky/patchy finish.

Coverage: 2.5 Ltr will cover approx 50m2 depending on the timber and application method.

As explained in Usage and Coverage tab Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil can be used in 2 different ways. Detailed below are the preparation and application instructions for both of these uses:

Method 1: as a base coat on lighter timbers
Method 2: as a top coat over Spruce Treatex Colour Tone

Preparation for Method 1
Our engineered oak floors usually do not require sanding before finishing. If you’re applying Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil to an existing floor then the floor should be sanded back using 80-120 grit. All of the existing finish should be removed and the product applied to the bare timber.

Ensure that all dust, dirt and any other contaminates are removed before application begins.

You should ensure you buy enough Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil to complete your entire project and when more than one tin is required it is recommended that the tins are mixed together before use.

Ensure the product is at room temperature and stir well before application begins.

It is standard practice to test before proceeding to finish your floor. We recommend you treat an offcut first to be sure in your choice of finish.

Preparation for Method 2
If you have applied a coat of Spruce Treatex Colour Tone within the last 24 hours then no preparation is needed. Ensure that the Spruce is completely dry before starting application of the Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil.

Ensure that all dust, dirt and any other contaminates are removed before application begins.

Application for Method 1
Natural Treatex Hardwax oil is not suitable for darker timbers. Brush or roller on a thin coat. Leave for 10 minutes and then remove excess oil with a lint free cloth (or if using polishing machine slow buff using a soft pad then finish with lint free cloth). It is very important the excess oil is removed to prevent a patchy finish. Allow to dry – in a warm and well ventilated room this should enable the finish to dry within 3-6 hours. Once dry seal with 2 coats of Clear Treatex Hardwax Oil in the sheen level of your choice (Flat Matt or Matt are most popular for this finish).

Application for Method 2
Once the Spruce Treatex Colour Tone has dried evenly apply Clear Natural Treatex Hardwax Oil using a brush or roller. Allow to dry – in a warm and well ventilated room this should enable the finish to dry within 3-6 hours. Apply a second coat using a brush or roller and allow to thoroughly dry (overnight) before the surface is lightly used. The finish is usually ready for use after 8 hours but not fully cured (ready for furniture, higher traffic etc) for 18 hours.
