Preparation and Application
The Soft White Treatex Hardwax Oil is designed specifically for light coloured timbers.
Tinted with natural white pigments to prevent the timber from warming, preserve the paler colour and create a finish closer to the appearance of an untreated board.
Treatex Soft white Hardwax Oil is user friendly and easy to apply (more info within application tab) and creates a stain resistant and hard wearing finish suitable most interior timber including floors, kitchen worktops, stairs, window sills and furniture.
Reduces the warming of lighter timber.
Tinted with natural white pigments.
Usually no sanding is required between coats.
Meets with VOC emissions regulations.
Easy to apply.
Low odour.
Quick drying.
Internal use only.
Can be used on lighter coloured untreated internal timbers.
2.5L will cover approximately 50m² in one coat / 25m² in two coats depending on the timber and method of application.
Our engineered oak floors usually do not require sanding before finishing. If you’re applying soft White natural Hardwax Oil to an existing floor then the floor should be sanded back using 80-120 grit. All of the existing finish should be removed and the product applied to the bare timber.
Ensure that all dust, dirt and any other contaminates are removed before application begins.
You should ensure you buy enough soft white Treatex Hardwax Oil to complete your entire project and when more than one tin is required it is recommended that the tins are mixed together before use.
Ensure the product is at room temperature and stir well before application begins.
It is standard practice to test before proceeding to finish your floor. We recommend you treat an offcut first to be sure in your choice of finish.
Application Method
- Apply the first coat using a good quality brush or microfibre roller. Do not apply too thick and work to a wet line.
- Allow the first coat to dry. Drying times can vary depending on site conditions. With good ventilation, warmth and air flow this usually takes 3-6 hours.
- Apply the 2nd coat using a good quality brush or microfibre roller. This coat must not be applied until the first coat is dry.
- Usually ready for use after 8 hours.
- Usually “cured” (ready for furniture, higher traffic etc) after 18 hours.
